Windows Store App Icons missing only while searching

When searching for app names from the search menu in Windows 10 the icon is missing or corrupted.

The icons in the start menu appear fine.

I have tried the following:

And probably a bunch of other things I can't recall at this time. Nothing has fixed the icons.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? It appears to only be related to the search function and not the actual icons showing in the start menu.

I haven't found any way to reset the cache related to the search.

You can follow these steps in submitting a new feedback:

  1. Search for Feedback Hub in the Cortana search field, then click the app.
  2. Click Feedback found at the upper-left part of the window, then press + Add new feedback.
  3. Tick Problem, share any details you think are relevant, then choose an appropriate category and subcategory.
  4. Important: If possible, reproduce the problem(s) after clicking Begin monitoring (or Start capture) near the end of the form; Stop monitoring when you're done.
  5. Click Submit once you've completed the form and monitoring.
  6. Click Continue using Feedback Hub.
  7. Click My feedback at the top, then find the item you have submitted (it may take a while to appear).

    None of these options work, I went back top build 1703, and all works, upgrade to 1709 issue occurs. So something is happening during he upgrade process that is messing or corrupting files. build 1709 is a real rushed mess of an operating system.

    SFC, like before, did not have any problems.

    A clean boot did not fix anything related to the problems.

    I have a feeling this is related to the Fall Creators Update similar to this thread

    Missing apps after installing Windows 10 Fall Creators Update along with other posts about the 1709 update. Especially a users comment that said

    "Most of us on this thread are using SSDs. I suppose it is possible that you may be avoiding the problem because these issues with corrupted Store database, corrupted user profiles and other issues are happening because there are some timing issues between threads running in the operating system upgrade cycle."

    We appreciate you for providing us those information, David. We've noticed that you mentioned the app icons were fine when you created a new user account. However, it should be repaired as soon as you did the reinstall.

    You may run the following scans to repair missing or corrupted system files:

    The System File Checker or SFC is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore these corrupted files.

    The DISM or Deployment Image Servicing and Management can help you fix some Windows corruption errors as well.

    You may also perform a Clean Boot to make sure that no app is causing the icons to appear that way. Clean Boot helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when running or installing a program in Windows 10.

    Note: Please go through the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot of the Kb article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue.

    I used the troubleshooter and it said the Windows Store cache may be corrupt. I clicked to repair it.

    Now all the Windows Store icons that were previously correct show up as the folded mountain page during search instead of only the one I recently installed (Office Lens).

    After the reset, only Lens had the blank folded page (see above) and other original store app icons were ok.

    I want to add that this was a reset of a Surface Pro 2017 from the Microsoft factory image.
