We couldn't finish installing updates (KB4074588), error 0x80070bc2

I was able to install the update but with a number of problems. Issuing the one command did not work.

The problem I have now is that I can not get automatic updates. It says Some updates are controlled by my organization. Another problem I have is I have two sign on when I reboot. Before that it kept saying that it was doing a repair and uninstalling all changes when I would reboot. So I solved one issue and caused at least two issues to be created.

If you are currently experiencing the 0x80070bc2 error while attempting to install KB4074588, please try this:

1. In the search box on the taskbar, type cmd.
2. Right-click Command Prompt in the search results and select Run as administrator.  (Select Yes, when prompted by the User Account Control.)
3. In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter:

SC config trustedinstaller start=auto 4. Restart the PC.

In some cases, a second restart may be required. If you look under Settings > Update & security and you see the message Status: Awaiting restart, restart the PC a second time to complete the installation.

I have found in some cases that it gets stuck in a half installed state. If the KB4074588 update is constantly downloading and installing during your check for updates, check In Settings > Update & Security > View Installed Update History > Uninstall Updates For KB4074588. If it says installed click the update to highlight it and choose **Uninstall.**Restart your computer and download and install the KB4074588 Update for your machine manually from here: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=KB4074588
