I don't know how successful this is going to end up being but, I reverted my notebook to the last restore point before that batch of updates and then manually installed that update. It took a while but, did install. However, while I was doing that, it
appears that the Windows Update was at work again preparing to install that whole set of updates and had it in line along with them to install over what I had just done that worked.
So, I ended up turning the notebook off until I can find a way to force Windows Update to scrap the plans it made while I was doing the manual install -- so that it will be forced to rescan for what updates are needed. I haven't found a way to do that yet
but, am hoping I will ..once I have the time to go back and try to sift through all the useless things that come up at Microsoft as well as the web in general.
I think that if I could get windows to rescan for what's needed to be installed/updated/etc ..then it would see my install that didn't fail like all of it's had.. and, might finally allow me to be able to get past this complete and utter waste of my valuable
time.. and I'm sure that none of your time(s) is of any less value.
This has been one of the worst go-rounds with updating any version of Windows that I can recall in ..well, maybe ever.
Maybe you can try what I've done.. and find out how to force the built-in updater to ditch what it plans to do again and re-evaluate the system and have some closure and be able to move on too.. hoping for your good luck.!
