I was struggling the updates on my W10 v1607 (x64 Dutch) latop on my SSD 128Gb update since launching, for weeks now.
System is not able to do it herself and I uninstalled last 2 weeks updates yesterday.
Than I turned off McAfee AV and got the last updates manually from MS update site.
Before that I had to -Windows suggested to do so- redo some other software installations to repair them. (I had to do a repair I installation. )
I recognized that all MICROSOFT software was simply gone on the C-partition.
FALL installation manually succeeded. Took me 26 Gb !! of hard disk space. Finally I had to uninstall parts of Office 2013 to create space for the next, update fixes for the Fall Update. received by automatic update.
I let it install automatically. Systems rebooted. Screen Warning not to interrupt! I waited for 3 hours. Noting happened. Finally I forced lock down for the system.
System does not recover to the login screen anymore. I have 14 passes of cold boot done.
System does not restart to login.
THIS DRIVES ME CRAZY!!. I am online via my cell phone now. Indeed a fine running system now stopped.... and this is because of tremendous disk space consuming Fall update and its update, finally.
Are these updates hussling in the registry and wrapping it, why so enormous disk space consumption?
MICROSOFT: how to proceed now??
I do NOT INTENT to create a clean installation.
Two more hours gone. I get a login screen right now. Strangely enough I have to login TWICE to get access....
Windows Update screen tells me KB406417 is pending on download at 99%..... So I am as far as 7 days ago.... I am really afraid to reboot, system might not boot agian.
THIS UPDATE FAILED 14 TIMES BEFORE.
Since I use W10Home is cannot stop system looking door updates. Not blockable.
