Windows 10 Stuck on “Restoring your previous version of Windows” loop

I am having the same problem. It does the following things.

"Toshiba logo"

"Brief moment showing the cmd menu" (And I do mean brief. Blink and you miss it)

"Attempting to restore previous version of Windows...."

"Restoring to previous version of Windows 10..."

"Black screen"

"Repeat endlessly from the first step"

My only access points are the boot menu via F2 and F12 keys. It doesn't seem to acknowledge that a USB drive exists, even if I put the HDD below priority. I'm currently sitting here with a broken Windows 10 laptop with no idea how to fix it, and for the record, I cannot access the actual Windows itself. So, don't bother telling me to access something through the sign in menu.

Mine was having the same issue. I had to power the laptop off, wait 30 seconds, then power it on 3 times. On the 3rd try, it booted into the login screen. The first 2 times it did the "restoring previous version loop"... one thing I did do on the 3rd try (from complete shutdown), was pressed F8 like a mad man, but it actually shot it right to the login screen...

It worked with my Acer laptop too - shutting down by pressing the power button for several seconds, wait 2-3 minutes, then turning on and pressing F8 till it shows the login screen. You log in, all data is there (Google Chrome restored also all open tabs before accepting the update) and it's shown a message that the update failed to install, but everything else is OK and the PC works as usual.

Microsoft, you should check this solution too and if you can not fix the update issue, please advice the customers to try it in order not to loose any personal unsaved data and not to have to reinstall Windows.

I'm using Win10 Pro X64. My laptop stuck "restoring your previous windows version" loop after windows update. I prepared a windows 10 bootable usb stick for recovery.

i unplug my mouse from one of the usb 2.0 ports and inserted a bootable usb stick. I have done nothing and booted normally.

The problem was my mouse (g700s), so unplug all usb devices and give it a try.

The F8 solution worked for me as well:

Power off

Wait 30 seconds

Power on, repeatedly pushing F8 (Fn+F8 in my case)

Went into a boot menu, where it gave a bunch of options, and I tried having it start Windows normally.

It restarted itself a few times and within a minute was at the login screen, and all is now well again, at least until it tries to install it again.
