Mine was having the same issue. I had to power the laptop off, wait 30 seconds, then power it on 3 times. On the 3rd try, it booted into the login screen. The first 2 times it did the "restoring previous version loop"... one thing I did do on the 3rd try (from complete shutdown), was pressed F8 like a mad man, but it actually shot it right to the login screen...

I need help plzzzz my laptop is stuck on restoring previous version..

Just go to the microsoft store. They had to wipe my pc and then re-install windows. Since it is a problem with the update from microsoft you shouldn't be charged...it's just a massive pain in the a** to have to go in. They will likely be able to get into your version of windows with their master key if you don't have everything backed up (that's why I always use cloud drives). Good luck.

I also had a boot loop problem after an attempted windows 10 update.

Tried a few things myself like creating a windows 10 usb installation disk to boot from.

Was able to get to the troubleshooting screen but the startup repair, system restore didn't work.  Did get the command prompt to work so I could copy off important files.

I contacted MS support and they pointed me to this article which solved my problem.

Even though it mentions windows 7 and Vista, the same commands work for Win 10.
