PDF files will no longer open on Windows Phone - Can't Open on EDGE

I've researched, cleared caches, and downloaded other PDF readers from the store to no luck ...

Since fixing a MAPS error with a Hard Reset, I've found that I can't open PDFs on my phone anymore. With Windows 10 on my Lumia 650 phone, the default/only way to see PDFs were (add still are) through EDGE.

When I click the file, whether it's on- or off-line, it would appear to proceed and open how it use to but end up saying:

Here is the converted link from an offline PDF file that accompanies the Message above (..the same prefix appears with online PDF files):

ms-appx-web:///assets/errorpages/ErrorPages.html?error=100000#file:///C:/Data/USERS/Public/Documents/EM_2018_schedule.pdf

When I email this and other PDFs to myself or click on PDFs online and open them on my PC, I'm able to see the file through EDGE without problems/error/issue.

Moved from: Microsoft Edge/ PDF, EPUB, and reading/ Windows 10

I would like to add that

    • Adobe Reader opens files on the device without issues
    • i cannot get links to pdfs to open in Adobe
    • Edge starts showing the file but then shows an error page, i.e. The number of pages is shown properl for a short instant

I tried uploading/downloading Reader from both publishers (Adobe AND Microsoft), Micro gives a message saying that's it's been phased out for the Edge pathway;  Adobe (via the store) sends me to the site and thinks my phone is a computer -- having me download a legit 32- or 64-bit 'file' to "update" my Adobe Reader software.

Agree, this is a disaster not being able to open a pdf. Installing another reader app does not work. This doesn't allow me to work as so many emails have pdf attachments.

WE have the same problem on two Nokia 950s.  Started after an MS update a few days ago.

My intent is not to open an Outlook PDF in Edge. I want to open pdfs contained in webpages and there is no such workaround for this scenario. Adobe for pdfs stored on the device is ok although I do not understand why the old dialog questioning which app to use is now gone???
