I've researched, cleared caches, and downloaded other PDF readers from the store to no luck ...
Since fixing a MAPS error with a Hard Reset, I've found that I can't open PDFs on my phone anymore. With Windows 10 on my Lumia 650 phone, the default/only way to see PDFs were (add still are) through EDGE.
When I click the file, whether it's on- or off-line, it would appear to proceed and open how it use to but end up saying:
Here is the converted link from an offline PDF file that accompanies the Message above (..the same prefix appears with online PDF files):

When I email this and other PDFs to myself or click on PDFs online and open them on my PC, I'm able to see the file through EDGE without problems/error/issue.

Thank you for letting us know. You may encounter issues when trying to access PDF files on Microsoft Edge after the latest update on Windows 10 Mobile. We are aware of the issue and our developers are working to resolved it. Rest assured that there will be an update in an upcoming release. In the meantime, we suggest that you download and install any available PDF reader apps from the Store. Make sure that you download or save the PDF file to your phone so you can open it on the PDF reader app.

I just tried installing 2 other PDF readers on my phone since Edge won't open them. When I open them, they both say to simply find the PDF I want to view, then open it, and I will automatically be able to choose to open them in one of the installed apps instead of Edge.
Uh...no.
Windows Phone does not offer you a choice of Apps to use to open a PDF...whether it's over the internet or is stored right on my phone. So it is not possible to open a PDF in some other app as you advise.
Sorry to disagree but the work around does work. If you press and hold the PDF email attachment and save it to your phone in documents then open an Adobe reader look for the file on your phone and it will open it and you can read it. It works for me while we wait for a fix :)
It doesn't help if you need to open 2 or more PDFs at once. I have to switch between multiple PDFs to view various information in each. Edge would maintain these PDFs on different tabs.
No work-arounds that have been found resolve that.

Reading all these reply's i understand that yes there are many work arounds, however the one fix that can not be carried out is to get the useless programmers at Microsoft to fix their problem, why should we put ourselves out for them when they are doing nothing but causing us problems.

II. when you want to read a PDF on the internet, simply use another browser! I tried UC BROWSER. UC Browser also is free available in the Windwos App Store.
With THIS browser you can choose to download the pdf on the web.
They will be saved in a UC browser folder.
Then you have to use Foxit to open the PDF. It works, I tested this on my Lumia650.

Thanks, it is a more complete workaround than just using Foxit. To combine it with an alternate browser is a good idea.
Thanks but this "resolution / fix / work around" has already been posted several times in this thread, but it's still only useful if the pdf is an attachment in Outlook, if it's a link there is no option to download or save to your device. This is the same for other apps which link to pdfs, if there's no option to save or download it won't work!
Read carefully WindowsPhoneLover: it really is possible to download a pdf from a weblink, and yes this was the first post about it ;)
Just use the UC Browser in stead of Edge, he will ask you what to do with the pdf (unlike Edge). I only installed Foxit and UC BrowserHD on my windowsphone, and I am able to open all PDF's on the internet :)
Still, I fear we will have to wait until the next patch Tuesday for the definitive fix though...
