SIM PIN2 to unlock mobile broadband device

What finally worked for me was updating the manufacturer's (not Levono) WAN card firmware.  Once this firmware was updated, everything worked like a charm. Here's the link:

I've had this problem for months and been recommended to contact my LTE provider, hardware's been inspected several times, drivers / firmware update and BIOS flashed, and time after time this issue keeps creeping. Although working in IT for more than a decade I literally didn't think of a solution as easy as this. It must be smth related to corporate computers and their IP/DNS settings. Mine is also a T470s with a "Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A" WWAN card & I had this issue couple of times each month, which normally resolved with full shut down, but occasionally not. Today it also didn't resolve with shut down, so I went googling yet again and came across your reply from a week ago. 

Really hope this issue is finally put to bed, but it did connect immediately after changing the settings and no more PIN2 locked for me :)

SOLUTION: Network Connections >> right click on the Mobile adaptor >> Properties >> double click on the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) >> set to Obtain an IP address automatically.

Leave the DNS server addresses as they are if they are in there.

Do the same for (TCP/IPv6)

I just wanna share my experience with the error sim pin2 error issue.

since I have the same struggle with some of you.

I have Toshiba Portege z30-A without card include and without the SIM card hole on the machine body. but someday I upgrade my RAM size. since then I knew that the machine has a SIM card Slot and Modem Slot. then I figure out what WWAN card that default for the machine and it is Sierra EM7305.

I got the same issue that the Simcard or device locked due to sim Pin2 after installing them

I did this action to solve it:

1. finding a solution on the net return to the same problem
2. change Simcard from several providers (not solved) but working fine on my phone
3. update the drivers and firmware (not solved)
4. etc.

BUT the connection establishes after I did some action bellow and the error gone.

1. update the firmware to the generic version from last Vodafone version before ( find it on Sierra website)
2. the most important (i think) connect the card with the antennas. I tried without an antenna before. I use wifi antenna since I have no WWAN antennas.
3. when changing the Simcard, unplug the card then plugin again

I don't know if what I did is the default for change the Modem or Sim card but the most important is the error gone and never come back.

now I have the LTE connection from any provider I tried.

Efectivamente, es un tema de actualizaciones.

Al actualizar Win10 (Dic-2019) salta el error y no conecta de ningún modo pidiendo siempre PIN 2 SIM

No se rompa la cabeza buscando ese PIN 2 SIM esa no es la solución.

Solución (Todas juntas)

Actualizar Win10 a la última versión

Instalar Lenovo Vantage para actualizar su propio sistema.

Es posible que Lenovo Vantage encuentre una actualización para su tarjeta WWAN

Si aún no funciona actualice el firmware de su tarjeta WWAN desde la página del fabricante.

Importante

Mantenga siempre habilitado el hardaware de la tarjeta WWAN con el SIM insertado

Reinicie el sistema en cada paso y espere a que reconozca el adaptador y el SIM.

Esto puede demorar varios minutos, no pierda la paciencia.

Continúe con cada paso solo en caso le salga el mensaje de inserte PIN SIM 2

Si al final no se resolvió el problema, desinstale todo el hardware, reinicie e instale todo el proceso nuevamente desde cero

Cuando funcione le llegarán automáticamente mensajes de su operador móvil y se mostrará como la imagen adjunta.
