SIM PIN2 to unlock mobile broadband device

My new Laptop is a Lenovo T470s (S/N PC0PXLX1) with a "Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A" WWAN card.

After working well for 6 weeks, I am now unable to get an internet connection using that adapter.

Windows 10 network diagnostics tells me I need to "Enter a SIM PIN2 to unlock the mobile broadband device". I can find no way to enter anything.

Tech support at both AT&T and Lenovo have never heard of SIM PIN2 and each blames the other for the problem. I have talked to each several times and have been referred to "advanced tech support."

My internet provider is AT&T.

This community has referred to a "provider specific software" that solved one participant's similar problem.

My provider, AT&T, has given me two PUK numbers. I suspect their PUK2 may be the SIM PIN2, but I still have no way to utilize that information.

HELP!

I had the same issue with pin SIM lock. This is all a Microsoft problem every time I get an update i lose Cellular service. This affects many people. They have not done anything to resolve this issue. they keep passing the buck to Lenovo or HP etc.

One tip that worked for me is to uninstall any driver for your LTE Modem. Re boot PC, (WIN 10 forces there own driver to be installed from their driver list)

Then use the driver from Qualcomm website as others have described, update driver and FW.

Just to clarify, you did reinstall the driver or update the firmware?

I had the problem after restoring the system with windows backup. I tried the driver update then. But I only got that the fateful message about pin 2 did not appear after deleting the mentioned file and maintaining the original driver. Maybe I could update the driver now, but for what, if it works now.

Reinstalling the driver had no effect. The problem persisted. The only solution seemed to be to completely reinstall the operating system. As that was strange, because the driver was the same, I decided to look at what files could be related to the driver in the "Users" directory. Finally I found one that could not be deleted: in "\ Users \ All Users \ Sierra Wireless \ Call Hystory \ CallHistoryLogData.txt". Accessing from outside the system, by console, I deleted it. I restarted and no more problems. Either this or reinstall all the OS. The problem is reproduced every time I restore the OS. And on each occasion it has worked to delete the file "CallHistoryLogData.txt". Two full days cost me the problem.

My computer is a Toshiba Portege Z20t-C.

Read the rest of this thread.  I had the same problem and had to update the WWAN firmware from Qualcomm.  It's been working ever since.
