Spotify app makes system restore fail

I think I'v installed the Spotify app from the Microsoft store three times over the last months, and every time I get the same effect: system restores are no longer possible:

So that's a reason for me not to use the app anymore, although for the rest, it works as a charm!

Anyone any idea why the Spotify app and System Restore are incompatible?

    i empathize.  my heart falls a little every time windows updates my laptop.  But I haven't had the problem since my original post.  no windows update since then has corrupted my device drivers simultaneously.   I did not re-install the spotify app on the laptop.  If I needed to use laptop for spotify I would use the browser version which in some respects is superior to the special application on windows 10 computers.  I haven't had this issue with spotify app on my desktop that I know of but of course i haven't had to run system restore on it ever.  I'll probably find out that is an issue sometime in the future.

    I have run into this problem tonight.  Looks like I will be doing a full wipe and reload of my hard drive.  Who wants a buggy windows installation if somehow you found a way out of this bootloop.  Don't do a windows 10 system restore, it could cost you a lot of time.

    ivy I appreciate the effort you made but don't know your credentials to respond and there are problems with your answer.  I would prefer an official answer from MSFT.

    Method 1.  why would you think this is a transient error.  I didn't say it was in my question.

    Method 2.  I am talking windows 10. I have no idea where "Computer" is to right click.

    Method 3.  I can't boot and can't restore which I clearly said so how can I disable anything.

    Method 4.  Not adequately explained how to run SFC utility and not sure any of us with this problem care about reporting it.  we just want to fix it without reinstalling windows 10 and wiping out our apps.

    Method 5.  thought I said i tried that didn't work.

    I wish everyone replying with a "solution" would explain a little bit about their credentials and why they think their solution worked.  

    I am done with this topic.

    The way I see it, %localappdata%\Microsoft\WindowsApps holds EXE shells for all Store apps which declare in their manifest that they want to be able to called from the command line. Consequently, I don't think Spotify is at fault but rather how Microsoft chose to implement this feature. In my case, apart from Spotify there are also executables for Unigram and Bash in that folder. Attempting to copy any of them into another folder returns exactly the same error code as is shown in the screenshot from the original post. Therefore, I'd say the issue is that System Restore has problems accessing those files just as e.g. Explorer and xcopy have, possibly due to wrong permissions, although the permissions window does not show anything out of the ordinary so this may not actually be that likely.
