Spotify app makes system restore fail

What does Microsoft Office have to do with the subject?  Your statement regarding the quality of help here also describes Microsoft's own technical support pretty well.  With Windows, you have only a few choices:  You can get independent direct help from a trusted source, or you can educate yourself at least to the point where you can discern which suggestions are likely to be the best ones.

1709 has always been buggy. Insiders including myself feel like 1709 should have never been released. Spotlight does not work tben again when has it ? I hsve backed up to 1703 and blocked updates. Seems to be going ok now. Microsoft needs to slow down and release only one major update a year. Least tbat way the release would be a lot more stable you would think.

The only way i can get system restore to complete is if I run it from advanced startup. Do it from inside windows My screen lights up with errors. Microsoft needs to get rid of that damn Spotify. Quit giving it to us by default.

I'm glad you understood it and tried it and am sorry it didn't work and now you have to revert what you did even if it didn't take you that long.

For folks following along: these commands basically amount to a folder rename (the first few commands give you permissions to perform the rename).

I tried this and got "System restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed.". Didn't get any mention of Spotify, but rather the following:

System restore failed to extract the original copy of the directory from the restore point. 

Source: %ProgramFiles%\WindowsApps

Destination: AppxStaging

The restore point was damaged or was deleted during the restore."

Planning to revert the commands. You didn't get this when you tried? And it didn't say "System restore did not complete successfully"?
