I think I'v installed the Spotify app from the Microsoft store three times over the last months, and every time I get the same effect: system restores are no longer possible:
So that's a reason for me not to use the app anymore, although for the rest, it works as a charm!
Anyone any idea why the Spotify app and System Restore are incompatible?

Now May and this issue still isn't resolved.
I was thinking I was down on my ms bugs quota for the week having only tripped over 2x partner site issues and 1x 365 issue and then double whammy on this client laptop, update breaks Windows and system restore makes sure your never recovering from it without a clean install.

1709 has always been buggy. Insiders including myself feel like 1709 should have never been released. Spotlight does not work tben again when has it ? I hsve backed up to 1703 and blocked updates. Seems to be going ok now. Microsoft needs to slow down and release only one major update a year. Least tbat way the release would be a lot more stable you would think.
Speak for yourself. I'm an Insider and never had a problem with 1709 (now on 1803), and Windows Spotlight worked as expected.
... despite Jimwynne's recommendation of the forums as a substitute for good microsoft aftermarket support, my experience is that the quality of recommendations from the forums is random at best and as likely to be a complete waste of time or even worse...
...I think the best solution is to stop using and paying for microsoft office when my subscription ran out and using google docs instead until microsoft provides an official solution to this system restore problem.
What does Microsoft Office have to do with the subject? Your statement regarding the quality of help here also describes Microsoft's own technical support pretty well. With Windows, you have only a few choices: You can get independent direct help from a trusted source, or you can educate yourself at least to the point where you can discern which suggestions are likely to be the best ones.

The only way i can get system restore to complete is if I run it from advanced startup. Do it from inside windows My screen lights up with errors. Microsoft needs to get rid of that damn Spotify. Quit giving it to us by default.
