Toshiba Flash Cards Preventing Shut Down Windows 10 latest update

I just updated my windows 10 with the latest update and now when I shut down I get the following message: Toshiba Flash Cards Preventing Shut Down and I have to click on the shut down anyway button. I didn't get this prior to the last update. Any ideas on what is causing this? Thanks

go to Task Manager

under "startup" tab, find "Toshiba Function Key Main Module", and click to disable.

:-)

Note: After doing this, to use your F (function) keys, you may have to hold down "FN" and the "F__(fill in #)" at the same time.

This worked for me!

Search button- just to the right of the "start" button, type "task manager";

When Task Manager appears, click on the "Start-up" tab;

Click on "Toshiba function key main module" and "disable" it.

It took me 2 re-starts before it went away.

Hi,

You will receive the message you've mentioned when you've used the app but forgot to close it before shutting down the PC.

That being said, have you used the said app before shutting down your PC?

If you're not using the said app, let's perform a Clean Boot to clear all the startup apps automatically running as soon as you switch your PC. Clean Boot helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when running or installing a program in Windows 10.

Note: Please go through the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot of the Kb article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue.

Thank you, but I have resolved the problem via information provided in this forum.  I removed/disabled the Toshiba Flash Cards utility (aka: Toshiba Main Function Utility).

    I disabled the Toshiba Function Key Main Module as you instructed but I'm still getting the message that "Toshiba Flash Cards" preventing shutdown. I cannot even find this "Toshiba Flash Cards" so that I can close it. Do you have another suggestion for how to get rid of this annoying message (other than buy a new, non-Toshiba computer). :)

    From this forum, some folks recommended going to Toshiba's website and re-downloading the function key software.  Although I solved my problem by disabling the software at Startup, I also re-downloaded the function key software available at Toshiba. I then re-enabled the software at Startup.  I am no longer having the Flash Cards pop-up at shutdown.

    Regarding your computer not showing any program named Flash Cards, mine didn't/doesn't either.
