2018 Can't adjust brightness after Windows 10 update

After one of the recent upgrades to Windows 10, my Dell Laptop brightness is off the charts. I can find no way to adjust it. The function buttons no longer work. Under settings, the display setting provides no adjustment for brightness. I've read online about others having this problem a few years ago; I haven't found anyone talking about it as a recent issue. I have tried the fixes that were listed; none of them have worked. Please Help.

Press Windows key + X

Click Device Manager

Expand Display adapters

Right click the current display adapter

Click Properties

Click Driver tab

Click Rollback driver if the option is available

If not

Right click the current display adapter

Click Uninstall

Check the box that says, "Delete the driver software for this device.”

Exit Device Manager

Restart

Go to Start -> Settings -> Update & security, then Check for updates and install any available updates.

Great news.   Finally, mine too is o.k. but, my Acer is same model as yours but has Intel which I rolled back to 2010 before downloading the Update.

Somehow, these updates haven't taken place in Hong Kong etc.

I am in Canada, are you in Europe????

    I'm in Europe indeed, Italy.

By the way, before the MS update I downloaded and installed the latest available video driver from Nvidia website. Did you try the same from Intel? Hope it helps...

No, I downloaded the 2010 Intel driver from Acer just before the update... Hope it stays like this....visited Genoa in 1975!!!!!  Arrividerchi....

OK, problem solved for me by the latest incremental Windows 10 update of June 12, 2018—KB4284835 (OS Build 17134.112).

For reference, my PC is a laptop Acer Aspire 5742G, with video card NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M.

    Thank you Microsoft
