After one of the recent upgrades to Windows 10, my Dell Laptop brightness is off the charts. I can find no way to adjust it. The function buttons no longer work. Under settings, the display setting provides no adjustment for brightness. I've read online about others having this problem a few years ago; I haven't found anyone talking about it as a recent issue. I have tried the fixes that were listed; none of them have worked. Please Help.

Press Windows key + X
Click Device Manager
Expand Display adapters
Right click the current display adapter
Click Properties
Click Driver tab
Click Rollback driver if the option is available
If not
Right click the current display adapter
Click Uninstall
Check the box that says, "Delete the driver software for this device.”
Exit Device Manager
Restart
Go to Start -> Settings -> Update & security, then Check for updates and install any available updates.

After spending a lot of hours looking into this issue, I found a easier, and quicker solution:
Go to:
Don't use the Browse button (Microsoft Basic Display Adapter is an already available driver)
So, that's all folks... I hope this will help a lot of people struggling with the issue

This not works for me. my brightness buttons are not working means not able to adjust the brightness. I am using Hp elightbook 840 g5 laptop with window 10 pro

Tried this and the brightness bar and shortcut came back, but now does nothing. The adjust in the settings moves, and so does the shortcut (with no value beside it).
