2018 Can't adjust brightness after Windows 10 update

After one of the recent upgrades to Windows 10, my Dell Laptop brightness is off the charts. I can find no way to adjust it. The function buttons no longer work. Under settings, the display setting provides no adjustment for brightness. I've read online about others having this problem a few years ago; I haven't found anyone talking about it as a recent issue. I have tried the fixes that were listed; none of them have worked. Please Help.

Press Windows key + X

Click Device Manager

Expand Display adapters

Right click the current display adapter

Click Properties

Click Driver tab

Click Rollback driver if the option is available

If not

Right click the current display adapter

Click Uninstall

Check the box that says, "Delete the driver software for this device.”

Exit Device Manager

Restart

Go to Start -> Settings -> Update & security, then Check for updates and install any available updates.

    Hi,

    After spending a lot of hours looking into this issue, I found a easier, and quicker solution:

    Go to:

    • Device Manager
    • Display Adapters
    • Open properties of Driver

    • Select Tab Driver
    • Select button 'Update Driver'

    • Select option 'Browse my computer for driver software'

    • Choose option Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer

     Don't use the Browse button (Microsoft Basic Display Adapter is an already available driver)

    • Select 'Microsoft Basic Display Adapter'

    So, that's all folks... I hope this will help a lot of people struggling with the issue

    Hello joblouage that issue was fixed by rolling back that update. And when I updated next month this was fixed.

    But anyway thanks for your help.

    I will consider that next time when I will have that issue.

    I have exactly the same issue as Ali Rehman142.  after the recent May 2018 update no matter what i do (uninstall driver etc.) i cannot change the brightness level on my computer.  arrrggghhh.  and as usual MS does not offer a solution.

    If i unistall device on my laptop will install back automatic or i need dedicated video card.
