TSSTcorp CDDVDW SU-208GB not working after Fall Creators Update installed

When the Windows 10 Fall Creators update tried to install it corrupted my boot drive so I had to download the image from Microsoft and do a clean install on my MSI laptop. After the clean install of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, everything seems to be working fine except for my optical disc drive. It is a TSSTcorp CDDVDW SU-208GB with firmware level TM01 installed. It was working fine previously. The device shows up in Device Manager and everything says the device is working normally, has the latest correct driver, etc. When I put a disc in the drive, it will try starting up and then fall silent. I never see the optical disc drive on my windows desktop or in file manager. Any thoughts about what I can do to get this resolved?

    Dear auggy,

    I created a System Restore Point, made the change and restarted.

    I see no change in the behavior.

    I am very sure that the elbycdio.sys file is removed from the system.

    Is there any issue with just removing the key entirely?

    At that registry key, in the right window, try changing the value data of Startto 4 - double-click Start and change the Value data to 4 > OK

    That should stop the elbycdio.sys from loading.

    Create a System Restore Point beforehand and restart the computer afterwards.

    Can you check if the following registry key exists:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\elbycdio

    Dear auggy,

    I checked the registry using regedit. I do not see any UpperFilters or LowerFilters value:

    If I remember correctly (it has been a while back), Microsoft published a bulletin suggesting that the UpperFilters and LoweFilters values be deleted.
