This update has failed 21 times+. I have run trouble shooter and it is green.

Everything looks good until after the reboot. Stuck in a bad loop.

Event log:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070BC2: 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892).

Any help would be appreciated.

PLEASE FIX THIS.  This update has failed over 20 times.

Surely at least one Microsoft employee is smart enough to fix this problem.  A simple call to any of the people suffering from the problem would allow this one employee to see what's wrong.

EXTREMELY UNHAPPY.

Hi

open CMD as administrator, an type one by one:

SC config wuauserv start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config bits start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config cryptsvc start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config trustedinstaller start= auto [Press Enter]

reboot system

Hope this helps!

Download the full KB4056892 update from:

    http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4056892

    Disconnect from the Internet

Open Command Prompt as Administrator, type:

    wusa /uninstall /kb:4056892

    Reboot

    Install the downloaded kb4056892 .msu

    Reboot

Thank you for responding. I did the other fix and that worked. I was an idiot and didn't open it the first time as admin so it borked. I got the update now and all is good. Honestly the Microsoft community is far more effective :)

Okay ... so I am an idiot. I didn't run as admin the first time. Ran as admin the second time and ... viola. Now looking at the "uninstall updates" list it's there and installed ... THANK YOU!

Well I did get my system fixed.

I had to do step 7 of this to get things working.

For someone with limited slow data this is not cool.

    Hope it helps others.

I guess it is possible MS fixed it first......  :-)

Thank you. Step 7 fixed the problem for me too.

Everyone else: just save yourself time and do the in place upgrade if you get:

     error 0x80070BC2

I really don't think I should have to do the in place upgrade to fix the issue. This is a work computer and the time it takes to do that is downtime and cuts productivity :(
