This update has failed 21 times+. I have run trouble shooter and it is green.

Everything looks good until after the reboot. Stuck in a bad loop.

Event log:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070BC2: 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892).

Any help would be appreciated.

PLEASE FIX THIS.  This update has failed over 20 times.

Surely at least one Microsoft employee is smart enough to fix this problem.  A simple call to any of the people suffering from the problem would allow this one employee to see what's wrong.

EXTREMELY UNHAPPY.

Hi

open CMD as administrator, an type one by one:

SC config wuauserv start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config bits start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config cryptsvc start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config trustedinstaller start= auto [Press Enter]

reboot system

Hope this helps!

For clarification:  The procedure that allowed me to install the update is the one that set the 4 system services, including BITs, TrustedInstaller, Crypto and a 4th service I can't recall, to start running immediately on bootup.   You can get the 4th service name by searching backwards in the forum.  Two of these services were initially running to "delayed start" on my system.  After making the change, the update started and completed on the first reboot.

I did not even try the suggestion that had multiple steps with step 7 being a reinstall.

Sorry if there was any confusion.

FYI _ I had tried the stand alone installer but it failed immediately. I had my Wi-Fi on, however.  Glad yours is working, that's the main thing.  Just goes to show, there's not a single magic solution for all systems.  This thread, by error/return code has been a great help.

I agree, this problem won't go away.  Microsoft keep reiterating the same steps to fix it but is doesn't.  Really bad.
