Getting error 0x80070BC2 doing Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892)

This update has failed 21 times+. I have run trouble shooter and it is green.

Everything looks good until after the reboot. Stuck in a bad loop.

Event log:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070BC2: 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892).

Any help would be appreciated.

PLEASE FIX THIS.  This update has failed over 20 times.

Surely at least one Microsoft employee is smart enough to fix this problem.  A simple call to any of the people suffering from the problem would allow this one employee to see what's wrong.

open CMD as administrator, an type one by one:

SC config wuauserv start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config bits start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config cryptsvc start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config trustedinstaller start= auto [Press Enter]

reboot system

    Hi,

    The link that we've provided in our previous reply contains all the steps you need to follow to resolve the issue. The step that resolved the issue of ChuckHoffman1 is the in-place upgrade process. There may be an issue with the system files itself that is why he cannot install the KB4056892 update. To replace those files, he performed an in-place upgrade. This will re-install Windows 10 but it will not affect your files and folders. If you've already followed all the previous steps in the link, we recommend that you perform an in-place upgrade to resolve the issue.

    We'll be waiting for the result.

    But it will blow out all installed applications, which is a huge time-suck and pain in the behind. There should be a better way. My desktop has been rebooting every evening for a month.

    Went through the simple steps on this and ended up with the Troubleshooter Adminstrator and it sorted the issue following a restart and then all the updates installed. All sorted thanks.

    Type in CMD in the Windows search and then right click to the found item, open as administrator.
