This update has failed 21 times+. I have run trouble shooter and it is green.

Everything looks good until after the reboot. Stuck in a bad loop.

Event log:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070BC2: 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892).

Any help would be appreciated.

PLEASE FIX THIS.  This update has failed over 20 times.

Surely at least one Microsoft employee is smart enough to fix this problem.  A simple call to any of the people suffering from the problem would allow this one employee to see what's wrong.

EXTREMELY UNHAPPY.

Hi

open CMD as administrator, an type one by one:

SC config wuauserv start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config bits start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config cryptsvc start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config trustedinstaller start= auto [Press Enter]

reboot system

Hope this helps!

For build 1709 none of this worked for me, despite having tried many variations and tricks using other 3rd party tools such as "ResetWUEng.cmd" (with admin privileges).

The *only* way I was able to get rid of the permanent update loop was to manually update to build 1803 before the official May 8th release date.

BTW, the Powershell tool "ResetWUEng.cmd" is really useful for other tasks as well. But I still don't understand why customers on this support blog are being told to perform useless tasks by Microsoft Support. It's a total waste of time. If you'd say "Wait until the April Update comes out"...I could live with that.

    Regards,

    Dear Eric1939,

Could you describe exactly what you did that resulted in "access bloody denied"?   I know you didn't get this exact response, but I need to know what you actually entered and what the actual response was in order to offer any help.

    Thanks
