Getting error 0x80070BC2 doing Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892)

This update has failed 21 times+. I have run trouble shooter and it is green.

Everything looks good until after the reboot. Stuck in a bad loop.

Event log:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070BC2: 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892).

Any help would be appreciated.

PLEASE FIX THIS.  This update has failed over 20 times.

Surely at least one Microsoft employee is smart enough to fix this problem.  A simple call to any of the people suffering from the problem would allow this one employee to see what's wrong.

open CMD as administrator, an type one by one:

SC config wuauserv start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config bits start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config cryptsvc start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config trustedinstaller start= auto [Press Enter]

reboot system

    reboot system

    This is the fix!  Anyone having this annoying issue just do as the quoted instructions post and no more problem.

    The above also worked for me, and is far less invasive/intrusive than a complete Windows upgrade. After running the above commands in an elevated command prompt as suggested, about 10-15 backed up Windows updates are now processing. Thank you, whoever figured this out.!!

    Thanks to all who posted this solutions.

    I have one correction: The solution works almost perfectly for me.  The update installed and seems to be installed correctly.  I do have one side effect that I haven't yet figured out.  After each reboot, Windows displays  a message like

       Stage 1 of 23

    The system then continues to boot.  The actual stage number changes from boot to boot...like Stage 21 of 21.

    As I said, operationally the system seems to be working properly except for the issue above.  If anyone has a solution this I'd love to see it.

    after each system start, try restarting the system again until the message stops. it was similar to me

    When using Windows 10 and using the Windows Powershell instead of CMD you have to issue the command like below:

    SC.exe config wuauserv start= auto [Press Enter]

    SC.exe config bits start= auto [Press Enter]

    SC.exe config cryptsvc start= auto [Press Enter]

    SC.exe config trustedinstaller start= auto [Press Enter]

    You almost completely reinstalling windows.

    It's still very heavy as process.

    There must be a problem in this KB and not on our windows 10.
