This update has failed 21 times+. I have run trouble shooter and it is green.

Everything looks good until after the reboot. Stuck in a bad loop.

Event log:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070BC2: 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892).

Any help would be appreciated.

PLEASE FIX THIS.  This update has failed over 20 times.

Surely at least one Microsoft employee is smart enough to fix this problem.  A simple call to any of the people suffering from the problem would allow this one employee to see what's wrong.

EXTREMELY UNHAPPY.

Hi

open CMD as administrator, an type one by one:

SC config wuauserv start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config bits start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config cryptsvc start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config trustedinstaller start= auto [Press Enter]

reboot system

Hope this helps!

Same problem but just noticed that when I updated the version of Windows 10 Home, that the PC came with, it updated to "Windows 10 Pro for Workstations" and not "Windows 10 Pro".  Wondering if this is what's causing my problem.

Wasn't given a choice during the upgrade and notice that they charged me about $100 more!  Got to love Microsoft.

Tried almost everything. As another member posted, the only solution that worked for me was this:

    1. Download the standlone KB4056892 package. Don't install it yet
    2. Disconnect from the internet (not sure if this is necessary but just in case)
    3. Open Control Panel -> uninstall a program -> view installed updates. Locate the KB4056892 update and uninstall it. You will be asked to restart. Do so.
    4. Install the downloaded package and restart
    5. Check if it installed properly. It did so in my case :)

    Hi,

Since you're using an Intel processor, KB4056892 should properly install on the computer. There is a possibility that there is an issue with the system files of Windows Update. This can be the reason why you're unable to install the update. We've provided a link in our reply last 10th of January 2018. The link contains multiple methods that can usually resolve common update issue. Just to clarify, have you performed the steps found in that link? If not, we suggest that you do so.

    Keep us posted.

    Hi Argel,

Problem seems to be solved.  Update KB4056892 was installed successfully.

I followed the link up to step 4.

    Thanks !
