Battery Draining In Alcatel Idol 4S

Yeah we've got two IDOL4S phones purchased around the same time about a year ago and now having the same issue on both phones with a battery at~40% dropping to critical level alert within minutes though not doing any major on the phones.  I also think it has something to do with the last update. They were fine before.  Really don't want to give up yet another windows phone.

If you are still having problems with the receiver, my husband's phone had the same issue.  Turns out it was dirty.  He does woodworking and metal forging and the debris can get pretty much everywhere especially when he's grinding metal.  He took his phone to the air compressor and  gave it a once over and now the receiver works again. Maybe it might work for you.

Seeing as we seem to be having very similar issues that started around the same time, I am sure it has something to do with software. Last night, I just kept using my phone well after I got the critical low battery alert. It stayed at 6% the rest of the night without dying. Obviously, it is not reading the correct battery level. Hopefully, someone at Microsoft is checking these threads and does something about it.

I have the same experience for ca. half a year, using it in cold conditions the camera or doing a lot w the phone battery level always drops to 6% which can be fixed by just connecting it shortly to a charger or powerbank which immediately restores the old battery level

I am convinced that it is a software issue. If not, it seems like the power level reading should remain the same when you restart the phone.

A few weeks ago, somebody mentioned using a Fierce XL and not letting it update the software. I also have one that I used before getting the 4s. A couple of weeks ago I updated The Fierce XL just to see if there was an impact on the battery indicator. I have been using it a lot and so far, no problem.

The software build on the XL is 10.0.15254.556 firmware revision no. 1078.41.0.1530.54500

The software build on the 4s is the same as on the Fierce XL but firmware revision no. is 1052.10.08031.54600

Questions:

1.)  If they have the same software build, would the revision that's on my XL run on the 4s?  Sounds logical but I build buildings, not software, so I have no idea.

2.)  If they both can run the same updated version of software, I'm wondering, if you reset the 4s and then updated, would it get the later version like my XL did?

Has anybody tried resetting and updating again?  I'm tempted to give it a shot and see but id like to know if anybody has tried it before I do...

...forgot to mention, sometimes I get the low battery alert (always shows 6%) when the battery is fully charged and just been using a few minutes.  Sometimes restarting works and sometimes it doesn't. It seems random to me.  Just another reason to think it's a sowtware glitch.
