The Operating Systems updates should be no problema, you can do them automatically, but the app try to install them one by one and check the battery drain after each of them.

I don't want the o/s to update automatically because if the battery drain issue is being caused by one of the updates (which many of us think is the case) I hope I can identify which one it is by doing them one at a time and seeing what the battery does after each one.  That's the only reason I am doing the reset. Does anyone know how to prevent the o/s auto-update?

After you do the Hard Reset and restore the backups, let the device work for a while and check if the battery issue is gone.

After that, start installing the apps one by one and see if the problems happens again when you install one specific app.

Important: Make sure you keep the AC adapter plugged in while you do the Hard Reset and recover the backups... you don't want a battery or power problem to stop any of those processes while they are running.

I plan to do the updates the same way, one at a time, and check battery drain after each one.  

I have found where updates can be installed individually but haven't figured out how to prevent automatic updates.

When I reactivated the Fierce XL, it automatically updated.  I don't want that in this case.
