Hi ..

Disk showing 100% and slowing down my system everytime . I have tried some of the fixes posted in google but nothing worked so far.

tried almost everything suggested in - https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/100-disk-usage-windows-10-fixed/

Task manager indicate some times single windows update , some times single system windows process takes almost 98% of disk .

I killed all background processes once and it seems resolved for a while but its resurfacing.

Please help me to resolve this .

Thanks

Ganesh

This may come as small consolation to anyone having this issue, but I also had the problem, for several days- just before the drive failed.  SOLUTION-  SSD, which has finally become reasonably priced, I swapped out my Dell's sad, old school mechanical disk for a similarly-sized SSD, and my drive usage went down to almost nothing.  Now, the bulk of the usage is on the memory and CPU, and not on the hard drive.  Hallelujah!  I can't say for sure that the swap was the solution, or that my 100% usage wasn't related to the state of the failing drive.  All I can say is, well.  Problem solved.

Incidentally, I went through EVERY recommended fix, turning things off, standing on one leg, saying a prayer, but finally got resolution with the drive swap.  So, I got that goin for me.

We've recommended that you consult the device manufacturer for isolation purposes as a damaged hard drive may also cause the issue. Since the issue persists after resetting your PC, we'd like to look at the hardware aspect of the matter. Should you wish to continue, we'd recommend an performing an  in-place upgrade. An in-place upgrade is the installation of Windows 10 over an existing Windows 10, keeping your files, applications, and settings while updating your PC. By performing an in-place upgrade, you will clean up the system which may help resolve some troubles with the system.

For any results, kindly update this thread.

    Hi,

We're following your post and we noticed that it has been idle for more than 48 hrs. We'd like to know if the issue still persist and an assistance is still needed. If the issue persists, we'd recommend consulting the device manufacturer about the issue so they can run diagnostics and to get further assistance as we suspect that this is a possible hardware failure.

We look forward to your response.

Hi , Thanks for the reply.

I am noticing this lagging issue since day1 of the laptop bought. I tried couple of times resetting the PC from the options (option1 with remove everything as sub option ) suggested before posting on forum. when it reset, first thing i do is open task manager and observe disk and it always  reached 100 %  as soon as it was on for the first time . For a change i tried loading previous version of OS today and opened task manager immediately when it turned on after reset, Screen shot is below :( :(
