I have reported this problem here in this thread and have seen it several times, but only every once in a while. Takes FOREVER to get back to normal and I've always just had to let it do it's thing, forever, until it finished. I discovered something today that was helpful to me, and might be helpful to others. I brought up Task Manager again, and saw nothing taking an inordinate amount of disk. All tasks were taking hardly anything at all. Tells me it some hidden background task is eating disk. Well, I noticed this one task bouncing around at the top of the list called something like "Mini Dump Analyzer". Wasn't taking a lot of disk according to Task Manager, but was always in the top 4 tasks in the disk column. I killed the Mini Dump Analyzer task and disk usage quickly returned to normal... within 30 seconds. Ta da! I was taking down a long running Firefox browser app during the incident. I believe the Firefox browser was abending at the time and it may have been this that spawned the "Mini Dump". Hope this might fix some of these 100% disk issues for some.
Windows 10 100 Percent Disk Usage Problem
Hi ..
Disk showing 100% and slowing down my system everytime . I have tried some of the fixes posted in google but nothing worked so far.
tried almost everything suggested in - https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/100-disk-usage-windows-10-fixed/
Task manager indicate some times single windows update , some times single system windows process takes almost 98% of disk .
I killed all background processes once and it seems resolved for a while but its resurfacing.
Please help me to resolve this .
Thanks
Ganesh

2019-01-17T23:34:28+00:00 This is getting ridiculous, there are no web site links or description of fix 8 or method 8 or any other explanation. If you really want to help, please type the answer that worked for you directly in this forum, no link that may not work, may be blocked, may be potentially unsafe, etc.

2018-02-24T04:48:51+00:00 Windows 10 has a feature that allows end-users to reset the operating system in the event that they want to start over 100% back to factory defaults or, just reinstall the operating system yet keep all your files. The feature is called Reset this PC and it’s extremely handy if you’re experiencing stability or performance issue. Resetting your device won’t uninstall your current build. This is because of resetting, as a function, aims to reinstall the default state of your PC’s current version.
To assist you with your concern, we recommend that you try to reset your PC using the Windows environment option or the WINRE (Windows Recovery Environment) mode. To do this, follow the steps below:
- In the Search box, type Settings and press Enter.
- Click on Update & Security.
- In the left pane, select Recovery.
- Now in the right pane, under Reset this PC, click on Get Started.
- Follow the on-screen instructions carefully.
If the “Reset” function doesn’t work in the operating system. You can try the WINRE (Windows Recovery Environment) mode. To do this, follow the steps below:
- Click “Recovery” then select “Advanced startup”.
- Click “Restart now”, the operating system will reboot into WINRE (Windows Recovery Environment) mode.
