Hi ..

Disk showing 100% and slowing down my system everytime . I have tried some of the fixes posted in google but nothing worked so far.

tried almost everything suggested in - https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/100-disk-usage-windows-10-fixed/

Task manager indicate some times single windows update , some times single system windows process takes almost 98% of disk .

I killed all background processes once and it seems resolved for a while but its resurfacing.

Please help me to resolve this .

Thanks

Ganesh

I own two windows 10 laptops and they both have this problem.

On one of them, which is my personal laptop, I have tried every solution I can find online, spending 5 or 6 hours total trying to fix it with absolutely no impact.

The other one is a new laptop I use solely for work.  This was fine for a month or two, but after a recent update is showing 100% disk usage even when the machine is completely idle.  It makes the computer incredibly sluggish / non-responsive and is a massive impact on my productivity.  I haven't tried any of the proposed solutions on this machine since apparently it is a complete crapshoot as to whether they have any impact, and they involve messing around with things that shouldn't need messing with.  What should I do, buy another computer?  Based on my experience it is highly likely that this will have the same problem.

I am afraid I don't have any useful advice for people who are suffering from this problem, but I just wanted to express my frustration.  Windows 10 is a broken OS that should never have been released.

    Fix this problem, Microsoft!

No, Microsoft, it's not this guy's PC that's the problem, it's something inherent in Windows 10. I have it on my laptop, and so do ALL of my colleagues. We leave task manager showing all the time, and after about 2 or 3 hours, the disk usage drops from 100% to something sensible, and the machines work fine then. I very much doubt that we all have damaged hard drives that miraculously repair themselves after two hours, and then break again when we reboot.

If you Google it, as soon as you start typing "Windows 10 showing 1..." it auto-completes with "100 percent disk usage". It's a well-known problem, and the only people who don't seem to be aware of it are Microsoft, which is a bit worrying.

I too have the same problem !

This is very bad from Microsoft !

I found some information regarding this issue .

Firstly, according to wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows\_10)  windows 10 was released on 29th July, 2015.

On the same day a post on Microsoft Support ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3083595/task-manager-might-show-100-disk-utilization-on-windows-10-devices-wit)

This issue isnt new to Microsoft!

Since then, there are a number of posts about this issue on various platforms from 2015  till now !

Besides many related posts here, there are many more on the web.

This issue seems so common and unsolved for most ( maybe all ) . Once you get this issue, it appears there is no way out !

I am using my system with dual boot, and I face no issue while I use my other OS.

If Microsoft does not not want to look into these issues and let users suffer then Microsoft should realize there are alternatives for people.

Even if this issue is not related to windows, simple fact that there are many questions posted to them should make them act for us !

Microsoft could make a analysis on these issues and publish some information. It will help a lot ! I have been struck around this issue for more than 2 weeks now and I sometime feel, it is not worth the effort!

No matter how many features you give, if I am unable to use my computer then what is the whole point ??  Practically, my computer is useless with 100% disk usage and sometime I think of #UninstallWindows10

Just because you dont know, doesnt mean nothing is happening ! Act if you care, before it is too late!

Agree and they don't reply and neither do they care. Wish I had just spent more money and bought a MAC instead. Good idea anyways, will start the petition for #UninstallWindows10. Ofcourse they won't care  they have way too many customers but no harm in saving few of them who might be planning to buy one.

    Hey Guys

I am one of the victims too, have been trying different things. Today I came across Microsoft Office Click to run service,  I stopped and disabled this service, Have been monitoring my disk activity , it is staying between 1 to 18 percent now, I ran many office apps soon after, the above service started again but amazingly Disk is relaxing now.

Check this trick guys, I don't have any justification for this service causing this problem but there is no harm trying..

    Cheers

Thanks  will try and keep you guys posted.we have to help each other as Microsoft don't seem to care anymore. Even the HP guy I talked with, they said this problem is a known issue and exists mainly on Windows 10 home edition. It seems to be true as I don't have any such Disk Usage issue on my office laptop which is also running a Windows 10 but a Pro edition.
