Windows 10 update sucks.

Windows 10 could be a much better OS if Microsoft would polish a version more before a release. The rush to push out these releases just seems to cause problems and sketchy updates that break stuff just adds to the stability issues. I sometimes just want Microsoft to provide a OS and not a Swiss army knife of a OS that does many things but none of them very well. I dealt with issues with every major release of Windows going back years with Windows 98 all the way through Windows 7. But those were annual or longer between major updates and we had time to install them when we were confident of their stability. Not so with Windows 10 which cranks out six month intervals automatically to many systems and users have little recourse if they go badly for their systems. 

This sort of automatic update OS works much better in a smaller ecosystem of hardware like Chromebooks. That way its much easier to provide a stable update without chance for errors. Apple has this luxury too with predictable hardware to test on. Windows however has so many potential hardware configurations its clearly not ever going to provide a stable base for a auto update OS. This is why enterprise can indeed delay or stop updates it deems a problem. We as users should all have this capability. Even those using Linux have a LTS path that provides security updates only for a more stable platform for those who don't want or need bleeding edge apps or features. Something Microsoft should at least consider for all Windows users.

For all of those saying "oh just research the problems with the update and fix them!" that is BS. I use my laptop for work, and Microsoft updated my laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 10 in November WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. One morning I got up, turned on my computer to work on a project with a deadline, and Ta-Da, there was Windows 10, the infamous Fall Creator's update. The update basically ruined my laptop. All of my programs were uninstalled. All of my pinned programs disappeared. The Start menu didn't display any programs so to start anything, I had to hunt around and double-click the. exe. My calendar disappeared and my clock was stuck on military time. Those are just a couple of things the update broke. It took me an entire day just to get my laptop to the point where I could meet some work deadlines that week. This update is a piece of crap and is the buggiest OS I have encountered in over 30 years of using Windows. A few weeks after this disaster, an auto update started in the middle of the work day that took three hours to complete, even though my update hours are defined as 10pm to 6pm. I couldn't send a file to a client by the end of the day as promised because I couldn't use my laptop. I finally solved all of these problems though, and I am extremely pleased with the solution: I bought a Chromebook.

I just want to say that windows 10 sucks and I hate it and I never want to buy another windows product ever but I am stuck in microsoft hell so I have to deal with these people. The updates that don't work are a huge microsoft problem fix it you ****.

Thei updates have taken away my pictures and me DVD player. I tried to uninstall. but it won't let me. I do not want any updates- but they force them on me.
