The receiver only works specifically on that keyboard and mouse combo. Getting the receiver replaced might not be possible. Check with our Microsoft Store support team regarding your concern. Use this article.

Microsoft "pairs the dongle with the keyboard in the factory" (don't ask me what that means). In other words, the dongle that your cleaning crew trashed was the only one in the observable universe that can work with your keyboard. The logic of Microsoft's advice is that you should trash your keyboard too and go buy a new keyboard-dongle pair for ~$100.
PS. I will not be lazy to clearly answer this question every time.

2019-10-03T15:28:55+00:00 I am beyond frustrated with the Microsoft support options available. I tried the virtual chat; no options were applicable. I called the help number, spoke to someone who said they would connect me to another agent. The phone went silent for 12 minutes. When I called back I was routed through a completely different system which gave me the option to hold for 10-12 minutes or provide a callback number. I entered the callback number and received a message stating I would receive a call back in 8 hours! This is really frustrating! **I would simply like to know how/where I can get a replacement dongle for my ergonomic keyboard and mouse.**Unfortunately the cleaning crew at my office removed it from my desk. Is there a simply solution for this replacement, or do I need to purchase an entirely new system?

If you ever lose or impair your Microsoft Sculpt wireless keyboard dongle, you can throw your $100 Microsoft Sculpt keyboard out a window.
The fairytale on pairing the keyboard with the dongle in the factory due to security reasons is no more than an intellectual derogation of the customers. Therefore, this is the last Microsoft product I purchased until someone from Microsoft pays attention to this thread and respectfully explains to the customers why they cannot purchase a replacement dongle.
