USB Dongle is broken - need replacement for Microsoft Sculpt Wireless Ergonomic Mouse and Keyboard

Microsoft pairs the USB dongle to the keyboard / mouse / numpad at the factory.  It is done as a way to AES256 encrypt the key's being sent to the machine in an way to make them secure.  If a Spy for example were able to simply listen to your keystrokes over the air being transmitted or pair your keyboard to their workstation and then somehow listen to you type your password in, they could hack into your network using this method.

Apparently someone has been able to successfully penetrate a network using this method in the past so they do not support the unified wireless solution like Logitech does.

Thus if you care about security be prepared to throw your Keyboard away, and buy Microsoft Keyboards.  If you don't care about security, or maybe you have no need for it at your home / whatever buy Logitech.

Don't bother looking too far.  I just called and was told that they will only replace it if there is a manufacturer's defect.  When I said that I wasn't expecting them to replace it, but wanted to buy one, I was told there is no replacement dongle.  (frustrating)

Also, when I asked about a recycling program for the perfectly good keyboard/mouse/number pad, I was told that they don't do that.

I'm so disappointed as I've really liked this product, but can't justify buying a new one based on this situation and the lack of corporate responsibility.

I have the same problem when I reach out Microsoft customer care agent (Sanma) asked me to directly contact Microsoft sales (+1 (855) 426 0017)

Agent asked me to throw away the keyboard and mouse and purchase a new one as they cannot replace the USB receiver as they are not allowed to.

My USB keyboard and mouse is well maintained and due to a small accident the receiver twisted and broken (This is again completely due to the size of the receiver and it is easily twistable).

Though Microsoft maintained a high standard in their products they tell its customers that, technically they are not good enough simply to replace a USB receiver and provide a replacement even though customers would like to pay for the service.

It's simply a waste of money ($130.00).

I would like to suggest Microsoft inform these prior to customers rather wasting their money. Then people can protect the USB receiver than anything else in their lives. Such a shame...

Also, these tiny pieces even can be lost. No solution rather throwing away the products worth $130.00. A replacement option should be a definite requirement.

Highly disappointed and I will never recommend anyone buy Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard unless you are ready to protect the receiver like no other.
