USB Dongle is broken - need replacement for Microsoft Sculpt Wireless Ergonomic Mouse and Keyboard

The MS-answer that the dongle is massively coded blabla... c`mon. Logitech charges 15 USD for the dongle and it just works. MS could code a new dongle with a product code number securely, but rather sells a brand new keyboard. I lost my dongle, had to pay 100 Euro for a new sculpt :-/

Seeing your response make me laugh. We been in contact with Microsoft support and told them that we cannot locate the newly bought Ergonomic keyboard usb dongle, THERE is NO USE in using the keyboard without it, and we were told that there is no way they can replace the usb for security reason (its a combo and they are pair- as MS design it). REALLY? Microsoft's concern about an attack through bluetooth? No wonder why you guys got hit more often  because you've spend most of your resources on small details. And for customer like me who spend our hard-earned money had to force ourselves to buy a new one when we have one sitting and getting dust.

And now you want your international customer to spend his/her time to follow your instruction to get the same result?

These other brands incorporate at least spare receivers to order and possibly program.  They keep their customers happy.  It would be good for Microsoft and its customer base if MS also did the same.

Microsoft you guys are great in so many areas. This one you could do as well.

Microsoft pairs the USB dongle to the keyboard / mouse / numpad at the factory.  It is done as a way to AES256 encrypt the key's being sent to the machine in an way to make them secure.  If a Spy for example were able to simply listen to your keystrokes over the air being transmitted or pair your keyboard to their workstation and then somehow listen to you type your password in, they could hack into your network using this method.

Apparently someone has been able to successfully penetrate a network using this method in the past so they do not support the unified wireless solution like Logitech does.

Thus if you care about security be prepared to throw your Keyboard away, and buy Microsoft Keyboards.  If you don't care about security, or maybe you have no need for it at your home / whatever buy Logitech.

It's not about the security encryption or the mechanism they used. We are not requesting the dongle from a third party but the company who produces it. They should be able to provide a replacement as the dongle is a tiny piece of electronics that can be lost or damaged very easily. I don't think it is technically impossible to reproduce a key if they have the same blueprint. 

I think this is some sort of a business trick and I am highly frustrated when it happens from a world famous company.
