USB Dongle is broken - need replacement for Microsoft Sculpt Wireless Ergonomic Mouse and Keyboard

The call centres at the end of those numbers are a joke. The numbers on that page seem to route to the same **** call centre with no decent bandwidth available to them.

Operators are unable to be understood; this is only referring to call quality before even considering other factors.

Complete waste of time.

Microsoft pairs the USB dongle to the keyboard / mouse / numpad at the factory.  It is done as a way to AES256 encrypt the key's being sent to the machine in an way to make them secure.  If a Spy for example were able to simply listen to your keystrokes over the air being transmitted or pair your keyboard to their workstation and then somehow listen to you type your password in, they could hack into your network using this method.

Apparently someone has been able to successfully penetrate a network using this method in the past so they do not support the unified wireless solution like Logitech does.

Thus if you care about security be prepared to throw your Keyboard away, and buy Microsoft Keyboards.  If you don't care about security, or maybe you have no need for it at your home / whatever buy Logitech.

It's not about the security encryption or the mechanism they used. We are not requesting the dongle from a third party but the company who produces it. They should be able to provide a replacement as the dongle is a tiny piece of electronics that can be lost or damaged very easily. I don't think it is technically impossible to reproduce a key if they have the same blueprint. 

I think this is some sort of a business trick and I am highly frustrated when it happens from a world famous company.

Where is the corporate responsibility and social conscience. We are not a disposable society. I have the ergonomic mouse for work and I have the ergonomic keyboard mouse combo at home. These are very expensive items by anyones standards. Not replacing the USB dongle is disgusting for such are large corporation. Security excuses is a cop out, there is many ways around that if you chose to do the right thing. I am already down one mouse and I certainly won't be replacing the keyboard/mouse combo if something happens to that usb, I will buy a brand that supports waste minimisation and offers customer support and replacements for their products. Shame on you Microsoft.

Don't bother, the link the Microsoft offers will NEVER help or solve any problem unless your solution is to buy a new one. Such a shame company!!!! Legal way to robbed people. One reason I'm encouraging Apple to build less price ergo keyboard and mouse so I can finally stay away from any Microsoft product. Customer service sucks. I have been in phone with one of their Representative, we exchange email since he required a proof of purchase and photo of the keyboard that I never got the chance to use, and when I did, No RESPONSE at all. So folks, spread the word and stay away from Microsoft and encourage everyone to do the same. #NoMoreMicrosoft
