Windows 10 updates keep turning off system restore thus deleting previous restore points!

I use two PC's for a number of reasons:

1.   I have two Hard disks, redundant.   I have all files duplicated on both PC's.

2.   I can run one PC independent of the other, with two Connections, to try out various FIxes and troubleshooting, and, for example, I can run Services.msc and try out various settings to solve the un-ending issues with Admin problems and so  that Microsoft causes.

For example, the other day, after an Update, my Microsoft Admin credentials were reset so I could not even load a new program (Quickbooks) because of System errors from the Admin side.  I solved this issue using the OTHER PC which was still working fine, as both PCs are identical and the other one was my Wife's old PC that she no longer needed as she bought a Tablet.   So, I simply loaded up Quickbooks on the other PC and kept working and worried about the ADMIN issues for later.

 As a blogger, it is great to have a companion PC running the dialogs, and the primary PC running charts)....and if one connection is lost, the other kicks in as I use two connections, one with a Cradlepoint and the other is a Smartphone)...and with concurrent connections, there are always interrupts.

I could list 20 good reasons why having two PCs with separate Hard disks, connections, is better than a single PC with Dual Monitors.   I had such a setup one time and had a crash, and lost $$$$$ in five minutes in a live trade.    I trade options and at closing on Fridays, the action is exciting and lucrative (I run Strangles, weekly, and it is great $$$).

So, for all those reasons and more, I personally prefer two PC's independently running on a 100% duty cycle.

p.s.  I am quite surprised by your question, honestly.  MWB works flawlessly, loads automatically and two PCs are better than one.    I ran an MIS dept for a Silicon Valley Company and this is where I got some experiences with redundant databases which saved my Butt many times.

OK, I'm still not entirely sure why you are using two PC's when you could use one, but I guess that's a little off-topic. You could use built-in Remote Desktop Connection which works through your local network and doesn't incur data costs, but perhaps this wouldn't meet your needs.

Nobody has answered because the simple answer is probably that restore points for a previous version (or unupdated version) of Windows probably won't work or will conflict with the current version. Does kind of make sense I suppose. You would probably need to do a rollback rather than use a restore point. However MS could at least have the decency to leave system restore turned ON when they update.

However if losing 'mouse without borders' is your only problem then you are lucky! I would imagine that both your computers probably need to be updated at the same time to keep it working.

Just as a matter of interest, WHY on earth would you want to use two computers simultaneously?  I have seen hardware solutions that allow mouse and keyboard (and even screen) sharing between two computers.

Did you ever think of using a remote access program like AnyDesk on your main computer, and then just set up a remote session to the other computer? That way you could essentially achieve the same result without any additional software?

Thanks for this reply.  I believe that you are absolutely right as the Restore points are likely version dependent.

I am not using a remote application for a number of reasons:    1)  I live full time in a Bus, traveling continuously and use a Verizon Connection and the data costs me (that may be changing).   2)   Anydesk also requires an internet connection for its best usage and I DO use it for remote help to other PC users.

Mouse without Borders also has copy/paste functionality which works seamlessly.   It allows me to utilize my Ethernet connections between my two PC's without any latency whatsoever.   IT IS A GREAT PROGRAM and I can also use it through a Wireless router to control my Roku LOCALLY.  

I do have restricted file and folder sharing (non-public) and I use Mac Address Filtering for all PC's on the network and I also encrypt ALL personal files.

We are nearly wireless in every function except for automatic back-ups, and all six PC's on the network, in the Bus, are automatically backed up to a 5TB drive, which is overkill now as I am not doing much business other than Options trading through a brokerage house that I use (ThinkorSwim).  I do run a blog on how to trade options and futures, but with our overseas travel now almost 75%, I am winding that down as well.
