Windows 10 updates keep turning off system restore thus deleting previous restore points!

Why is Windows 10 update wiping out my restore points? On November 21, I created two new restore points (manual). My C: system drive was turned on. My limit was set to 25% and my new 1 terabyte  WD hard drive is barely 30% used. This morning, I allowed an update that took a long time to download and install. Afterwards, my Task Manager had new entries, Cortana2. My previous days restore points had been deleted and C: system was turned off in system restore. This is the second time in a month that Windows update has screwed with my settings and system! Why isn't somebody doing something about this?

    Here's the latest patch: KB4284822. Look for 2018-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4284822).

    OS build 16299.125 is an outdated update. The latest update for 1709 is KB4284819. You can manually download and install this update on this link.

    Hello, thanks for this link.  I am finally back home from a trip.  I am trying to determine which link to use from the MS UPDATE CATALOG PAGE.

    It has:   DELTA UPDATES, and CUMULATIVE UPDATES.  I have a 64-Bit Operating System, x64-based processor.

    Would you mind leading me to the right link.  There are many:

    Hi Djones_987,

    I understand that you're having issues updating your computer. One scenario why Windows Update fails is due to an incompatible driver to the latest update. Another factor is a corrupted components of the update during downloading or installation process.     • Did you get a specific error code?
    • Any hardware or software changes prior to this issue?
    • What's the current build of your computer? Press Windows logo + R and then type Winver.

    You may also follow the series of troubleshooting steps on the Fix Windows Update issues **** article. This will walk you through the step by step process to help you resolve Windows Update errors and other issues.

    No "codes" - - instead, under "WINDOWS UPDATE" the usual window opens.

    I'm not trying to be an Ass but even you must admit, that for the everyday, blue collar, working guy or gal, this is complete and utter BS !!

    I've tried EVERYTHING on these Microsoft forums. Well let me rephrase that.  I TRIED EVERYTHING, until my pc got stuck in a loop of complete Darkness. My computer tried updating to 1806 and yes, it failed. It went back to 1709. Then my wife shut it off one night,

    ( always blame the wife ) just kidding.. Anyway, I started it, idk, a day later and in the toilet, it went. Somehow, it got lost in some kind of

    " Microsoft Black Hole "

    I, like the other Millions, possibly Billions, DO NOT have the time to sit here and play silly games. I get that your an IT guy and that's great but what do the little people do ??

    Personally, I'm Beyond Frustrated. I have an ASUS CM-6850 Desktop. I took my hard drive out, backed up what I needed with a SATA Dock and am in the process of starting from the Greatness of Windows 7 Pro.

    I think I'll be staying with 7 until Microsoft can fix, THEIR BUGS that were stuffed down our throats..

    No offense to you personally and I know you can't shoot down a company you're working at in a public forum, unless you wanna do an

    Al Bundy and sell some shoes. lol

    Regardless, it is Very Frustrating.
