Your device needs the latest security updates...big time error.

Yesterday, I got the notification "Your device needs the latest security updates" and an update window that couldn't be closed, but could be minimized to the tray.  It spent hours to reach 100%, so I left it running overnight.  I get up this morning, it reappears, does the same thing again...but then "restoring your version of Windows" appears on the restart and now it's downloading again.  Is anyone else struggling with this, because it seems seriously bugged and stuck in a viscous cycle.

What I did was to uninstall it, reinstall it, uninstall it again and then do a disk cleanup and then manually remove the last remains of the programme directories.  It hasn't reappeared since.

    I have totally had it with W 10 / upgrade etc .. I have tried everything ... wasted days and days ... what a total ****-up. My husband says MS are famous for this kind of thing and the only solution is to buy an Apple Mac ... so off to John Lewis ...

    Urgh...I can't find it either.  Bloody Microsoft.

    I uninstalled the Upgrade Manager, deleted the leftover rubbish on the C Drive, then reinstalled it, uninstalled it again and then deleted the leftover rubbish again.  If you just uninstall it, it regrows I found, so take it off, take the rubbish off, put it back on, then take it and the rubbish off again.

    I think that was one of the things I tried, also, and it reinstalled like you said. Sounds like a pain in the ass.

    From what I can see, this is a massive issue that a lot of people are suffering from.  It's being called the "Update Assistant Loop"...but I can't yet find a solution.  Does anyone have one?

    I can't find your instructions on how to disable the updates. This is the third time I've been through your posts.
