Your device needs the latest security updates...big time error.

Annddd it looks like my fix has failed, because the popup is back this morning.  I've had about two-months of it being gone, but it's grown back like Cancer.  It's going to be downloading for hours, trying to update for hours more and then will be on the loop again, until I disable it...again.

That was a spam/phishing call.  It happened to me once, coinciding with a very minor computer error and I almost fell for it myself.

I just has a weird call from someone purporting to be a windows tech who, after explaining that I was sending up some sort of error reports somewhere,  wanted me to run something on the computer which he would direct over the phone.  I suggested that if he wanted to be helpful he could get on this forum and explain himself to you all who might have a shot at having him figure it all out for us.  At the point where he understood that it was not going to go down as he suggested he hung up.  I am continuing to use the computer by uninstalling the Assistant when it loads shortly after start up until one of you good folks or maybe MS them selves (dreaming) figures out a better idea or figures out some user friendly way of crawling out of this corner.  Seems like there is more attention coming from Nigeria than there is from California.  Oh Well.  Maybe it is time for that Mac eh.  Thanks all

I actually used Group Policy Preferences (GPP).  All the computers are domain-joined.  So, I used the Group Policy Management console to create a GPO with the desired directives.  GPP is not available on a standalone computers.  So, this is only an option for domain-joined computers.
