I haven't been able to fix the problem yet.  Looks like a lot of others are finding the fixes are working but, I, on the other hand haven't had that luck :-(

So sorry no solutions are working for you. Have you reported this in Microsoft hub. Do any of the 3 drivers for your

video say they are disabled with any kind of code? It is odd that it is listed 3 times. I think maybe you should make a new post with the screenshot of device manger. Perhaps this post is getting to long and people are not looking at it .. Maybe someone will be able to help. It  is worth a shot. So sorry I could not be of help here.

Did your card come with an install disK? I just seen this post as a possible solution for you. I copied it from a search I did.

I would like to leave a comment for those of us that this DIDN’T work for and who may also have had issues with the driver info along with the card not showing up. I got my graphics card to register/show up instead of Microsoft Basic Display Adapter by right clicking Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and going to properties. Then going to update drivers>Browse my computer>DVD RW Drive(E:) and searched it b/c the CD that came with the graphics card was in there. After allowing this to happen my card showed up in place of Microsoft Basic Display Adapter I was at this for 4hrs until i figured this out, i hope this helps

if u want, next time u can double click setup.exe from the cd, much easier than browsing thru folders

• If your driver was on a cd this may work. Or download the most recent driver and try to update the Microsoft Basic Display Driver to YOUR driver. Hope something here works. Connie

Sorry ConiGL, I really have had a hard time figuring stuff out. I am not the best computer person..had to read and reread, make notes, etc., but you say you have ATI Radeon HD 4200, and I have ATI Radeon 3000. So maybe that is why? Don't know for sure.

Oh..It is not me having the problem. It is  ljames 104.I was just replying to his or her post . His or her message is in the blue box. :) That is his video adapter and it is listed 3 times in device manager. Odd.

Here is a reply  just today.29th. Hope this resolves your problem.They have finally admitted to the problem it looks like.I will keep my fingers crossed for you. This solution worked for the poster that had same problem you do.

Yes, there is a problem with the latest Windows Updates.

Right Click Start Button - Device Manager - Display Adapter - double-click the adapter - Driver's tab - use Roll back driver.

If that does not work or is unavailable do the below.

Updating to the latest video driver or possibly reverting back to an older version usually corrects the issue.

Download the latest and any other older driver you wish to try from the System/Motherboard Maker's Site and also check the actual video device maker (such as Intel, Nvidia or AMD/ATI). Do not install yet.

Make a Restore Point :

Start - type in --> Restore ......... find at top and click on - then use Create

Use this method to remove the present video drivers.

Display Driver Uninstaller

Then install the desired driver you previously downloaded.

Then do this

Open Control Panel, select System & Security, System, Advanced System settings, Hardware tab, Select Device Installation settings, check the NO box, SAVE CHANGES.

Thank you. Mine is working now. I just don't want them to update again and then go through the same problems.
