Personalized settings not responding after windows 10 updates

Every damned update I have to deal with this ****, its so frustrating that **** hasn't fixed the **** problem by now

The following steps worked for me ...

Thank You but the problem is that there is no action preventing this issue from occurring in the first place despite the continuing recurrence of this conflict not only for me but so many others.  All that we have are some different ways to try to continually repair the never ending problem with varying degrees of success.

The following steps worked for me ...

1. ctrl-alt-del
2. select Task Manager
3. in Task Manager, select File then Run new task
4. type "explorer" in the box next to "Open"
5. click OK

now you should get your desktop back, I'd wait a minute or two, then

6. reboot
7. logon

steps 6 and 7 may be a little slower than usual

8. desktop appears as normal

I hope this works as well for you as it did for me.

This worked for me when I found the "Windows Explorer" in task manager, right clicked on it and clicked "restart" until it disappears then did the whole thing. Although mine worked this way without restarting.

Will this ever be fixed?  All fixes including sfc and registry edits fail after the next forced update to test updates before Enterprise customers experience the same failures.  Updates forced today before I could shut down were matched in terms of delay of waiting and waiting and waiting for personalized settings/windows explorer to finally respond.

This is the third time this has happened after a Windows update. Once it spontaneously sorted itself out, but otherwise this solution has worked for me.
