Black screen with cursor after Windows 10 update

Problem is, on my "black screen after a fresh installation with just a cursor", pressing CTRL+ALT+Del does absolutely nothing.

Microsoft suggests starting up in Safe Mode, but to do that, errr, I need to be able to "hold the Shift key down while you select Power Power icon  > Restart."   Errr yeah... I don't have any kind of menu, I can't do that.

And if I shut down my computer and restart it.... same thing.  Hitting during bootup F8 does nothing, I just end up with the black screen of nothingness.

One interesting thing: if I do SHIFT + CTRL + Escape, the cursor turns into a "Please wait + pointer" cursor for about a second.  But still nothing appears.

But - I found a ridiculous solution (you'll love this).

I'm using an Asus ultrabook, and nothing would make the screen display anything.  But then I attached it to my monitor.  Actually, I just plugged in the cable, I didn't actually use my monitor.  At which point, the Windows "How would you like to set up?" screen appeared  (personal use, or setup for an organisation?"   

And now, I could now remove the cable, and my ultrabook's screen was alive and kicking again.

Microsoft... be careful.  You're becoming as unstable as Apple....

I also have same issue. I can't see sign in screen. After the restart Windows logo appears for 2 seconds and screen go blank. Even I can't get Advanced Start-up Menu after 3 restarts.
