Windows 10 home, new computer with CPU Intel 8700K working well, version 1709 installed.
I noticed that windows update gives error 0x80070bc2 when trying to install 2017-11 Cumulative update for Windows Version 1709 for amd64-based systems KB4048955 (and before KB4043961) ... getting a sort of a loop as it requires a restart to finish installing but at any restart gives the same message and does not install.
Tried various things such as sfc scan, dism, troubleshooting windows update, manual install etc. Nothing works. Other updates such as KB4048951 and KB4051613 installed correctly in the last few days. Can someone help?

- Type the following commands in Command Prompt window. To execute them, press Enter after each one.

- Finally, restart your PC and try to install the update that was previously returning the 0x80070bc2 error.
Did not work for me, "invalid argument" and "PositionalParameterNotFound.... SetContentCommand"
This is not acceptable. My system has been compromised for nearly two weeks. I have work to do! It's not saving properly. It's slow. When will a new update be available? Nothing here has worked. I'm in the same loop as others.

This actually solved my issue. I had tried everything else and when I came upon this post I was skeptical it would work. Thankfully I was wrong and this solved my problem on both of my PCs that stopped updating after the new year!!

This moved my Windows 10 Fall Creators Update forward to, "Build 16299.248". It's supposed to be, "Build 16299.299". And Windows Update, in Settings, behaves as though it's finished.
Microsoft has a Tiger by the tail. The Fall Creators Update is damaging personal property, and, stealing personal time from Windows 10 Users - including this one. My Fall Creators Update has been ongoing since mid November, 2017. I lost my email address books and 3 years of archived emails among other things. The MS Support Tech installed a free copy of Office 2016 and told me to uninstall my Office 2003. I did that. Now the digital registration of Office 2016 is gone and I'm locked out of Office 2016. I have lost everything from the deleted Office 2003. I have asked MS to reinstall a digital software key for the Office 2016, that was working for a while. They have refused. If this were a car I would invoke, "the Lemon Law", and return it to the dealer. but this is more than a car so I'm waiting and watching..., like a tiger.
