Automated Windows 10 updates deleted all my documents and files

All too hard.

Why do I have to buy in help to fix my machine that wasn't broken in the first place.

Why did I have to spend $3000 on a new machine as my all legal machine was toast.

Why did my business suffer a two week enforced closure that I could not recover from.

Why does 90% of instructions to fix bear no relation to what I see on my screen.

Why is it that guaranteed continuity, ease of operation, and Microsoft don't go together.

Why is it Microsoft never takes ownership.

It really is time to put down all things Microsoft and walk away.

Everyone, go to THIS PC, then go to WINDOWS, then go to USERS, then go to the folder under your computer name. All your files are there. Cut everything there and paste it where it originally was. You'll be fine. Once that is done, you might be searching for random files through search and it would say no item found, so go to search then click on run then type in services.msc and enter, once you do that, search for windows search, it would probably show automatic delayed start, so click on windows search and change the automatic delayed start to automatic. Once done exit and right click on windows start and click on refresh. Everything would be searchable again

Thanks.  Followed THIS PC, then WINDOWS, then USERS and my user ID, but found DOCUMENTS was empty.  However, below that was ONE DRIVE, which had another DOCUMENTS folder that had all of my document files. 

Before the update hit, there was ONE DRIVE access at the top of my FILE EXPLORER screen, but that location was deleted by the update.  Update also emptied my task bar, and re-pinned links to Outlook and One Drive do not work (error messages).  All favorites on Microsoft Edge have been deleted, and all of the 35+ custom commands on my Access Toolbar for both Word and Excel (on which I rely heavily for work) must be restored.  Going forward, I'm keeping all of my Favorites links on an Excel spreadsheet saved to a data stick, along with a reminder list of what I use on the Access Toolbars. 

What a pain all this is.  Windows updates used to always keep all this stuff in place.  Now I'm back to keeping everything on data sticks - its like returning to the old floppy disk days of the 1990's !

How can I retrieve all of my files and photos if my problem was method 1?

I am in a state of shock. I was already using windows 10 and last night automated updates started without allowing me to stop them. This morning my computer is cleaned out with all thosevery important document deleted!!! Microsoft can do that??? How can I recover them ALL?????

DAMN Windows 10 update wiped my home page on opening ---it showed news etc now blank and I cannot search--I call BS on the update>>

The worst happened to me-- I then posted a solution on this forum (about blocking the virus-like automated updates by Windows)-- but unfortunately, only when the disaster happens people might have a look at it. Please see if you can search on this forum as how to block the Windows updates, otherwise it might happent to you again in the  next round. Do not wait for Windows to even acknowledge the problem.
