Everyone, go to THIS PC, then go to WINDOWS, then go to USERS, then go to the folder under your computer name. All your files are there. Cut everything there and paste it where it originally was. You'll be fine. Once that is done, you might be searching for random files through search and it would say no item found, so go to search then click on run then type in services.msc and enter, once you do that, search for windows search, it would probably show automatic delayed start, so click on windows search and change the automatic delayed start to automatic. Once done exit and right click on windows start and click on refresh. Everything would be searchable again

    Hi catfantastic,

You can copy your personal files from the user account created after the update to your Microsoft account. Please refer to Mohammed AliAli's response from this thread for the steps on how to transfer files across user accounts.

Let me know how it goes.

I just returned to my computer after a couple of days away and my desktop was empty AGAIN.  I was able to find my files on that other ghost desktop, and everything's backed up anyway, but I'm so tired of doing this.  I just want to know when it's going to stop.

I humbly request Microsoft to accept their responsibility and pay Seagate to recover my data and everything I lost that day. Their technicians here told me to contact Seagate at my own cost. I know I do not have the financial muscle to have this legally resolved. I know when I am using their software " I am simply renting it" its not mine its theirs but when the soft comes with updates that are force/pushed on my computer and delete all my data someone out there needs to be responsible! I did not need those updates. If we are the civilized humans of the 21 st Century as we pretend to be in the eyes of the uninformed then ,may my data be recovered Mr MS. If we are not humans then nothing will be done as it seems to be the case.
