Automated Windows 10 updates deleted all my documents and files

I am in a state of shock. I was already using windows 10 and last night automated updates started without allowing me to stop them. This morning my computer is cleaned out with all thosevery important document deleted!!! Microsoft can do that??? How can I recover them ALL?????

    Not a hint of any sort of response from Microsoft.  This will certainly be my last Windows laptop.

    I seem to have the same issue as stated above.  I had an Automatic Update forced on me two times and both times all my personal files, documents, cookies, and pictures were deleted.  I was able to Restore my PC back by using a Previous Restore Point, but the Update keeps trying to push through.  I am the Administrator and not logged into a Temporary account.

    The same thing happened to me.  I did the automatic update, and now all my pictures and photoshops and music, ect, is all gone.  This is ****.    Thanks, Microsoft.    I really appreciate it.  My **** wasn't corrupt.  I am beyond pissed off.

    How would this response be of any help to a man who has just lost the photos of his wife who has just died of cancer?

    But replacing the faulty drive with a new one is simple enough. But it doesn't solve the problem.

    The issue is the lost photos and, No, they are not in the cloud and most of them are not in friends' collections. And, Yes, he should have had a backup but, like so many PC users, he was unaware of the need for it until this appalling situation faced him.

    As others have said, Windows 10 updates should not cause disasters like this.

    In my opinion, his only chance is to send the drive to a dedicated file recovery company. Even there, given what I was seeing, I think his chances are slim.
