Automated Windows 10 updates deleted all my documents and files

Unfortunately, people get aware of the only solution (blocking automatic update) when the damage is already done. 

It is more than a year that I complained about the Windows 10 Updates, and it is few month after I offered a simple and only solution so far--since Microsoft has not been able to debug its major update that acts like a virus, deleting people's files and application under the pretext of "security", while even a virus/hacker cannot create so much harm!

As for the solution:

1- You should create an image of your laptop (=complete backup)

2-If you have Windows 10 Home Edition upgrade it to Professional edition (even though it is an extra source of income for MS!!), then you can postpone the Windows Updates for one year, under the Setting.

3- Even so, after upgrading, a year passed and MS could not figure out how to debug its automatic updates so it leaves with the final solution: BLOCK the update completely, no matter what! To see how, look at the following instruction:

In Short, you can  follow the following path: 

Navigate to the following path:

Computer Configuration àAdministrative Templates

àWindows Components

àWindows Update

to disable the updates. 

In more detailes, step by step:

1.    Open Start.

2.   Search for gpedit.msc and select the top result to launch the procedure.

3.  When Local Group Policy Editor window opened double click onComputer Configuration

3.1. Now, double click on Administrative Templates

3.2. Now double click on Windows Components

3.3. Double click Windows Update nearthe end of the list at the new window

4.  After double clicking on Windows Update, find and double-click

the Configure Automatic Updates policy on the right side.

5. Check the Disabled option to turn off the policy, then Apply and OK.

  YOU  ARE NOW SAFE FROM THE UPDATES!

I can't believe there was nothing that popped up as an "are you sure" or warning of any kind. I found my missing files and desktop earlier this week during two other upgrades, but it upgraded 3 more times in the last few days! There was a pop-up that prompted me to delete one of my profiles....I fear that's where they might have been. Now I can't find my working files, and have to hire someone.

Yes, I do have back-up, but I'm tired of re-setting all of my personalizations, re-setting my network configurations, and deleting things I don't want each time there is an upgrade. The weather and photo apps don't ever seem to work. I'm also very tired of deleting hulu, x-box, other kiddie games, and netflix apps each and every time. I just want my files back! Digusted and angry! Now, I see that I only have 28 days to act. Apple could be in my near future.....

This sucks - my laptop just updated again with MS and it deleted my outlook again.. This  is so ****.. ! who does this to their clients.. ??   I have just wasted 45 minutes updating my outlook and reinstalling my emails .. why do Microsoft do this ???

I did a windows update and lost my word documents and Microsoft office

Windows updated my computer (Win10 1903) with KB4507453, then asked me to restart and I did last night before I left work and now in the morning I see that my profile had been deleted. Luckily I don't keep anything important on my computer's HD, but an update shouldn't be deleteing profiles.

The previous profile is nowhere on the computer, hidden or not.
