Automated Windows 10 updates deleted all my documents and files

I am in a state of shock. I was already using windows 10 and last night automated updates started without allowing me to stop them. This morning my computer is cleaned out with all thosevery important document deleted!!! Microsoft can do that??? How can I recover them ALL?????

    I know you don't want to hear this but after almost 20 years in the PC support business I tell all of my client. BACKUP! BACKUP! BACKUP!. There are multiple ways to do this now a days. from external drive to online cloud backup. And some of it free up to a certain amount of data. I have seen families go thru the same thing from a hard drive crash and loose eveything. There is nothing you can do about that now. but going forward you need to backup everything..

    Have you tried running a recovery software like GetDataBack Simple? They let you run the software to see if it can find your stuff, then you pay I think $80 for a license to actually recover it. Well worth it if it can find your files. There are other recovery solutions but that one in my experience has been the best.
