Windows 10.0.16299.19 upgrade failed and it gives the message: "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on theis compuiter, restart the installation." i tried the method in https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/windows-could-not-complete-the-installation-to/bf09c3c5-298b-459f-aed5-4f431b8398f5?auth=1 but it does not work. There is no cursor on the screen, there is no “local user and group” in Double click Computer Management (Local) -> System Tools -> Local Users and Groups -> Users -> Double Click Administrator -> Uncheck Account is disabled -> OK this step

there is no response when i try oobe> msoobe

Please help me, thank you!

    Thank you.  That's what I ended up doing, and as mentioned, had to reinstall or buy apps (MS Office) and would have had to start a whole new favorites files if not for saving them previously on explorer, windows 7.

    I'm having the same problem here. windows was updating, and next thing I know, I got this "windows could not complete the installation" error. 

    I'm using Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro. problem is I can't remember whether I have made a recovery disk or not. the only directory accesible at cmd is C:

    is it possible to restore to previous working condition. and not to wipe clean windows?

    Yes, it is. As the computer starts to load, hold down the power key and let it shutdown. Do this 3 times. On the fourth time, you will be ask if you want to recover. Choose Advanced options, and choose keep files.

    it works for me. i follow your step, advance option, keep files, and then canceled it and start windows normally.

    once my PC rebooted it installed the update. I've checked my update history, and it said that update 1709 has been installed successfully.

    does this means I already past the dreaded update? and I can turn on my internet connection again? I fear once I turn on the Internet again, more faulty update will be downloaded.
