Mystery app preventing Windows 10 shutdown after update.

Since a Windows 10 update a few weeks ago, when I go to shut down, it says it is closing and there is an app running  ------- but there is no app running   So I wait for it to close that nonexistent app, and after a few minutes, I am back to the computer being ready to work, not shutting down. When will a new update fix this?  Yesterday's update did not fix this. It is not a serious problem, but it is annoying to have to click "Shut down anyway" to really shut down.  What is this app that hides itself and won't quit?

    Yes, and it will continue to do so until Microsoft fixes its fix   -----  if you've read all the other messages, you will realize that this will never happen.

    Obviously.  It has been relegated to the black hole called the Microsoft Community.  It's  called lack of givashirt.

    I actually did eventually find a fix, but it was months before I did.  It was a few years ago.

    I can't remember, but I did post it somewhere in this thread.  I know some responded that it did work and some it did not.  Damn Microsoft and their forced updates.  Never had any of these problems with XP

    AMEN!  I still have one XP box (Intel I7-3770K CPU) to use with the legacy equipment (like the ALPS decal printer and a Stika vinyl cutter) that Win 10 refused to support.  I have the latest Malwarebytes on it, and have ZERO problems with it.  I am able to pass data to and from it using a NETGEAR NAS on the network.  Win 10 refuses to talk to the XP, but the NAS will....  

    Everytime Microsoft does one of their forced updates, I use a bunch of system settings, including drive sharing across the network.   I think the plan is to have all the newer computers behave like little Stepford Smart Phones (SSP).
