I am thinking the non-turn-off did come in with an update. I was typing an online message on a company website and accidentally hit "Read Aloud". It wouldn't let me continue writing my message. Every time I tried to type, the Read Aloud" went back to the top of my message and started over! It then went down and started reading other items on the website page.
As my answer to most computer problems, I do a "Restart" or a "Shutdown" and then reboot. I worked my career at IBM and we said just hitting the Big Red Switch. It's also frustrating because I feel like I should be able to find a way to work around it.
Doing a Restart did stop it. May have been a fluke. But I shut down the website and shutdown the computer, restarted it, and Read Aloud was off.
Microsoft needs to get it off the COPY, CUT, PASTE pulldown. It's too easy to hit READ ALOUD there.
Thanks for your reply!
